Birthdays

My son is 2 months away from turning 1 and I'm already planning his party. We want to invite family and close friends. That amount comes to 70 people! Holy Shit! I made reservations at a local pizza place that is large enough to house our herd of celebrants. The rough estimate of what it will cost is $425 for pizza and soda. Thank goodness we don't plan on doing this every year.

Part of me is really excited about celebrating our baby's 1st b-day with all of the people we care about. The other part is saying, "why spend that $$ on something he won't remember?". That makes me realize that the party is more for us than it is for him. Is it overboard? I'm not sure. We don't expect a bunch of presents. We honestly just want people to help us celebrate.

Next year, I swear it will be just family.....all 20 of them.
